Our Story

Think Peepal is based in India but we are actively collaborating with partners in Europe.

We help environmentally conscious companies make the planet greener and marginalized Indian farmers happier.

THINK DIFFERENT

CARBON OFFSETS

We believe that sustainable strategies to fight climate change can be more than just fulfilling carbon offset metrics - it can be also be about changing people’s lives.

We provide farmers with a wide variety of plants (including fruit crops and robust local flora) to ensure mixed forestry.

THINK LONG TERM

COMMUNITY IMPACT

We have made long term thinking our core principle. We design innovative projects that create untapped mutual benefits for all stakeholders.

For example, once you sponsor a tree, the farmer will ensure that it flourishes since their livelihood depends on it. Moreover, they will always be grateful for your generosity.

UPDATING THE model

At Think Peepal, we’re rethinking the way carbon offsetting works by making sure both the trees and farmers thrive.

Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach to tree planting, we provide Indian farmers with saplings they can cultivate for their benefit — fruit trees, hardwoods, and native species that enrich the land and provide income.

TRADITIONAL MODEL

Monoculture approach
Short-term thinking
No social impact
High maintenance and labour costs

Agroforestry approach
Long-term sustainability
Prioritizing farmer prosperity
Free maintenance by farmers

WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE

Agroforestry?

Agroforestry blends agriculture and forestry practices to create more resilient and productive landscapes. The trees can be planted for timber, fruit, or other uses while maintaining space for crops or livestock.

Income Diversification

Farmers can harvest timber, fruit, fodder, or non-timber products like honey or medicinal plants. This increases resilience against market volatility or crop failure.

Climate Resilience

Trees protect crops from extreme weather conditions including erosion, reduce the impact of drought, and improve micro-climates for crops.

PILOT PROJECT

GROW MY TREE

LOCATION : ABOHAR, INDIA
TREES PLANTED : 1,000+
PROJECT KICKOFF : Nov 2021

We were engaged in a full-service tree campaign for Grow My Tree, a Berlin based company that sells trees for corporate carbon offsetting.

In this project, we did rural capacity building and agroforestry workshops for the farmers with local experts. This was organized by our local caretaker who supervised the extensive soil testing.

As part of our package, we provided full service digital marketing with personalized photo shoots.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

WHY INDIA?

The latest IPCC report shows that India needs to make drastic changes including carbon emission reductions to reduce climate catastrophe.

India is an agrarian country with around 70% of its people depending directly or indirectly upon agriculture.

Several villages and rural communities lack basic infrastructure and amenities. Moreover, due to the dense population and rising inequality, you get the best return on your investment and help the most people.
